Master in Finance and Economics (MEF), Università di Milano

Opening of the admission procedures for the Master Program in Finance and Economics (MEF) at the University of Milan, academic year 2020/2021.

With this Master program, of the duration of two academic years and taught entirely in English, the University of Milan aims at offering an exclusive and high-quality study program. This internationally-oriented master is thought to provide students both with an excellent academic background (both theoretical and empirical), as well as with a practical sense, both features now being fundamental in the view of starting a potential future career in today’s challenging and dynamic global real/monetary/financial markets.

Indeed, due to the growing complexity of today’s world, expertise only in economics/finance or, conversely, only in quantitative methods is not enough to succeed in every-day’s challenges. The MEF is therefore organized in such a way to provide deep knowledge on both the economic mechanisms and behaviors regulating modern financial markets. This knowledge, in turn, allows students to build solid quantitative and numerical capabilities that do represent the basis to make crucial decisions under uncertainty and in the presence of risk.

The study program is completed with a mandatory stage activity at selected companies and institutions especially organized for students by the MEF-Board. As elective courses students can choose one or more activities among the ones offered by the University of Milan (laboratories or other courses), up to a maximum of 9 credits. The final dissertation completes the program.

The MEF program aims at shaping the following highly-professional profiles: financial analyst and consultant; operator of financial markets and financial intermediaries; manager/director of the finance-department of international financial/economic institutions; researcher in economics and/or finance in research institutions, both public and private, nationally– and  internationally– oriented; specialist in the organization and management of programs/projects of international aid and economic development.

Finally, MEF also aims at preparing students for a potential future admission to national/international Ph.D. programs in economics and/or finance.
