The Department of Economics and Law of the Sapienza University of Rome is hiring 1 research fellow in the context of the project ‘Living and working conditions in the digital economy in Italy and the European Union’, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (PRIN PNNR 2022) and coordinated by the Department of Social and Political Science of Bocconi University.

This project will study the drivers and consequences of the living and working conditions in the digital economy, with a particular focus on the emergence of platform work. Distinct from prior studies on the topic, the project proposes a framework allowing to investigate the digital economy through three perspectives: at the level of the individual worker, the firm, and the country. Specifically, the project will study the working conditions and productivity of individuals engaged in platform work, how firms react to the possibility of platform work, and how different regulatory regimes can influence the size of the platform economy.

Pre and post-doc candidates with background in Economics, Statistics, Social and Political Sciences will be considered.

The positions (based in Rome) is expected to be for a duration of 12 months, renewable for an additional 12 months, starting by the June 2024. Ideal candidates should have some experience with data analysis and econometrics. Candidates with a strong expertise in the empirical analysis of issues such as inequalities, labor market impact of technological change, digital platforms and quality of work will receive special consideration.
